ਭ੍ਰਮਰ ਮਤੀ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਬਰ ਨਾਰੀ ॥

ਜਨੁਕ ਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਕੌ ਚੀਰਿ ਨਿਕਾਰੀ ॥
januk chandr kau cheer nikaaree |
His wife, Bharmar Mati, was so comely that she appeared to be takenout of the Moon.
ਜੋਬਨ ਜੇਬ ਅਧਿਕ ਤਿਹ ਸੋਹੈ ॥
joban jeb adhik tih sohai |
ਸੁਰ ਨਰ ਨਾਗਿ ਭੁਜੰਗਨ ਮੋਹੈ ॥੨॥
sur nar naag bhujangan mohai |2|
Her magnificent youth was relished by the gods, devils and serpents.(2)
ਭਦ੍ਰ ਭਵਾਨੀ ਇਕ ਸੰਨ੍ਯਾਸੀ ॥
bhadr bhavaanee ik sanayaasee |
ਜਾਨੁਕ ਆਪੁ ਗੜਿਯੋ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥
jaanuk aap garriyo abinaasee |
Bhadar Bhawani was a sage; he was so handsome that he looked likeGod’s special creation.
ਰਾਨੀ ਲਖਿਯੋ ਜਬੈ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੀ ॥
raanee lakhiyo jabai abhimaanee |
ਨਿਰਖਿ ਰੂਪ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਗਈ ਦਿਵਾਨੀ ॥੩॥
nirakh roop hvai gee divaanee |3|
When the Rani saw that egocentric, she was totally infused with thelove for him.(3)

ਭਦ੍ਰ ਭਵਾਨੀ ਕੇ ਭਵਨ ਦੀਨੀ ਸਖੀ ਪਠਾਇ ॥
bhadr bhavaanee ke bhavan deenee sakhee patthaae |
She sent her maid to the dwelling place of Bhadar Bhawani,
ਭਵਨ ਬੁਲਾਯੋ ਭਦ੍ਰ ਕਰ ਭ੍ਰਮਰ ਕਲਾ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇ ॥੪॥
bhavan bulaayo bhadr kar bhramar kalaa sukh paae |4|
And called him to her house to attain bliss.(4)

ਸੁਨਤ ਭਵਾਨੀ ਭਦ੍ਰ ਬਚਨ ਤਹ ਆਇਯੋ ॥

After getting the message, Bhadar Bhawani came there.
ਭ੍ਰਮਰ ਕਲਾ ਕੋ ਰੂਪ ਨਿਰਖਿ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇਯੋ ॥
bhramar kalaa ko roop nirakh sukh paaeiyo |
He was enchanted with the reflection of the beauty of Bharmar Kala.
ਨਾਥ ਭਲੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਰਹੌ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਮੰਗਹੀ ॥
naath bhalee bidh rahau sadaa sukh mangahee |
(Rani:)‘Oh, my master, you remain here as I seek your welfare.
ਹੋ ਆਜੁ ਸਭੈ ਦੁਖ ਬਿਸਰੇ ਨਿਰਖਤ ਅੰਗ ਹੀ ॥੫॥
ho aaj sabhai dukh bisare nirakhat ang hee |5|
‘A vision of yours has eradicated all my afflictions.’(5)

ਭ੍ਰਮਰ ਕਲਾ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਨਿਰਖਿ ਬਿਸਰੇ ਸੋਕ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
bhramar kalaa taa ko nirakh bisare sok apaar |
All the dejections ofBharmar Kala were obliterated,
ਮੋਦ ਬਢਿਯੋ ਤਨ ਮੈ ਘਨੋ ਸੁਖੀ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਤਾਰ ॥੬॥
mod badtiyo tan mai ghano sukhee kare karataar |6|
And, with the God’s blessings, she attained extreme ecstasy.(6)
ਡਾਰੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਨੀਲ ਕੀ ਓਟ ਅਚੂਕ ਚੁਕੈਨ ॥
ddaare saaree neel kee ott achook chukain |
ਲਗੇ ਅਟਿਕ ਠਾਢੈ ਰਹੈ ਬਡੇ ਬਿਰਹਿਯਾ ਨੈਨ ॥੭॥

ਪ੍ਰਥਮ ਬਿਰਹ ਹਮ ਬਰੇ ਮੂੰਡ ਅਪਨੌ ਮੂੰਡਾਯੋ ॥
pratham birah ham bare moondd apanau moonddaayo |
(Sage:)‘The fire of passion was kindled, which made me to shave off thehead (become a sage).
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਬਿਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਬਰੇ ਜਟਨ ਕੋ ਸੀਸ ਰਖਾਯੋ ॥
bahur bireh ke bare jattan ko sees rakhaayo |
‘Then, in the spirit of separation, I supported the matted hair,
ਧੂਰਿ ਸੀਸ ਮੈ ਡਾਰਿ ਅਧਿਕ ਜੋਗੀਸ ਕਹਾਏ ॥
dhoor sees mai ddaar adhik jogees kahaae |
And with ashes on the head, I was exclaimed as a Yogi,
ਜਬ ਤੇ ਬਨ ਕੌ ਗਏ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਪੁਰ ਮਾਝ ਨ ਆਏ ॥੮॥
jab te ban kau ge bahur pur maajh na aae |8|
‘Since then I have been roaming around in: jungle but passion hasnot subsided.’(8)
ਪ੍ਰਥਮ ਅਤ੍ਰ ਰਿਖਿ ਭਏ ਬਰੀ ਅਨਸੂਆ ਜਿਨਹੂੰ ॥

(Rani:)‘First, there has been a sage called Attar, who married Ansua.
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੂ ਭਏ ਕਰੀ ਸੀਤਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਯ ਤਿਨਹੂੰ ॥
bahur raam joo bhe karee seetaa triy tinahoon |
‘Then came Rama who made Sita as his wife.
ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਬਿਸਨ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਕਰੀ ਸੋਲਹ ਸੈ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
krisan bisan avataar karee solah sai naaree |
‘Krishna, the epitome of Vishnu, had sixteen hundred women.
ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਪੁਰਖ ਕੀ ਰੀਤਿ ਜਗਤ ਜਗਤੇਸ ਬਿਥਾਰੀ ॥੯॥
triyaa purakh kee reet jagat jagates bithaaree |9|
‘The convention of man and woman has been originated by theCreator himsclf.’(9)
ਸੁਨਤ ਚਤੁਰਿ ਕੋ ਬਚਨ ਚਤੁਰ ਰੀਝਿਯੋ ਸੰਨ੍ਯਾਸੀ ॥
sunat chatur ko bachan chatur reejhiyo sanayaasee |
Listening to the astUte talk, the sage was appeased.
ਹਾਵ ਭਾਵ ਕਰਿ ਬਹੁਤ ਬਿਹਸਿ ਇਕ ਗਾਥ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸੀ ॥
haav bhaav kar bahut bihas ik gaath prakaasee |
After some extenuations, he beamed and narrated an anecdote.
ਸੁਨੁ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਤਵ ਰੂਪ ਅਧਿਕ ਬਿਧਿ ਆਪੁ ਬਨਾਯੋ ॥
sun sundar tav roop adhik bidh aap banaayo |
‘Listen, Damsel, you have been created by God himself.
ਹੋ ਤਾ ਤੇ ਹਮਰੋ ਚਿਤ ਤੁਮੈ ਲਖਿ ਅਧਿਕ ਲੁਭਾਯੋ ॥੧੦॥
ho taa te hamaro chit tumai lakh adhik lubhaayo |10|
And, consequently my heart has fallen in love with you.’(10)

ਭ੍ਰਮਰ ਕਲਾ ਏ ਬਚਨ ਕਹਿ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਸਤਹਿ ਟਰਾਇ ॥
bhramar kalaa e bachan keh taa ke sateh ttaraae |
Relating such talk, Bharmar Kala decimated his celibacy,
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਭੋਗਿ ਤਾ ਸੋ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਅਧਿਕ ਹ੍ਰਿਦੈ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇ ॥੧੧॥
bahur bhog taa so kariyo adhik hridai sukh paae |11|
Then, open heartedly, made love with him and achieved elation.(11)
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਚੁੰਬਨ ਕਰੇ ਆਸਨ ਕਰੇ ਅਨੇਕ ॥
bhaat bhaat chunban kare aasan kare anek |
They kissed each other multifariously and adopted many poses’
ਰਤਿ ਮਾਨੀ ਰੁਚਿ ਮਾਨਿ ਕੈ ਸੋਕਿ ਨ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਏਕ ॥੧੨॥
rat maanee ruch maan kai sok na rahiyo ek |12|
And shedding all perpetrations, she revelled with him.(12)
ਰਥ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਰਾਜਾ ਤਹਾ ਤੁਰਤ ਪਹੂੰਚ੍ਯੋ ਆਇ ॥
rath bachitr raajaa tahaa turat pahoonchayo aae |
Suddenly, Raja Bachiter Rath arrived there,
ਭੇਦ ਸੁਨਤ ਰਾਨੀ ਡਰੀ ਚਿਤ ਮੈ ਅਧਿਕ ਲਜਾਇ ॥੧੩॥
bhed sunat raanee ddaree chit mai adhik lajaae |13|
And, on learning this, the Rani felt ashamed ofherself.(13)

ਦੇਗ ਬਿਖੈ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਬੈਠਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
deg bikhai taa ko baitthaariyo |
ਸਭ ਹੀ ਮੂੰਦਿ ਰੌਜਨਹਿ ਡਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
sabh hee moond rauajaneh ddaariyo |
She made the sage to sit in a cauldron and left a hole in it,
ਪੈਠਨ ਪਵਨ ਨ ਤਾ ਮੈ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
paitthan pavan na taa mai paavai |
ਬੂੰਦ ਬਾਰਿ ਤਿਹ ਬੀਚ ਨ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੧੪॥
boond baar tih beech na jaavai |14|
Throqgh which he could breath but water would not seep in.(l4)
ਜਿਵਰਨ ਸੋ ਤਿਹ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਗਹਿ ਲਯੋ ॥
jivaran so tih drirr geh layo |
