ਨਾ ਓਹੁ ਮਰਤਾ ਨਾ ਹਮ ਡਰਿਆ ॥
naa ohu marataa naa ham ddariaa |
He does not die, so I do not fear.
ਨਾ ਓਹੁ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਨਾ ਹਮ ਕੜਿਆ ॥
naa ohu binasai naa ham karriaa |
He does not perish, so I do not grieve.
ਨਾ ਓਹੁ ਨਿਰਧਨੁ ਨਾ ਹਮ ਭੂਖੇ ॥
naa ohu niradhan naa ham bhookhe |
He is not poor, so I do not hunger.
ਨਾ ਓਸੁ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਹਮ ਕਉ ਦੂਖੇ ॥੧॥
naa os dookh na ham kau dookhe |1|
He is not in pain, so I do not suffer. ||1||
ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਊ ਮਾਰਨਵਾਰਾ ॥
avar na koaoo maaranavaaraa |
There is no other Destroyer than Him.
ਜੀਅਉ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਜੀਉ ਦੇਨਹਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jeeo hamaaraa jeeo denahaaraa |1| rahaau |
He is my very life, the Giver of life. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾ ਉਸੁ ਬੰਧਨ ਨਾ ਹਮ ਬਾਧੇ ॥
naa us bandhan naa ham baadhe |
He is not bound, so I am not in bondage.
ਨਾ ਉਸੁ ਧੰਧਾ ਨਾ ਹਮ ਧਾਧੇ ॥
naa us dhandhaa naa ham dhaadhe |
He has no occupation, so I have no entanglements.
ਨਾ ਉਸੁ ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਹਮ ਕਉ ਮੈਲਾ ॥
naa us mail na ham kau mailaa |
He has no impurities, so I have no impurities.
ਓਸੁ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਤ ਹਮ ਸਦ ਕੇਲਾ ॥੨॥
os anand ta ham sad kelaa |2|
He is in ecstasy, so I am always happy. ||2||
ਨਾ ਉਸੁ ਸੋਚੁ ਨ ਹਮ ਕਉ ਸੋਚਾ ॥
naa us soch na ham kau sochaa |
He has no anxiety, so I have no cares.
ਨਾ ਉਸੁ ਲੇਪੁ ਨ ਹਮ ਕਉ ਪੋਚਾ ॥
naa us lep na ham kau pochaa |
He has no stain, so I have no pollution.
ਨਾ ਉਸੁ ਭੂਖ ਨ ਹਮ ਕਉ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ॥
naa us bhookh na ham kau trisanaa |
He has no hunger, so I have no thirst.
ਜਾ ਉਹੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਤਾਂ ਹਮ ਜਚਨਾ ॥੩॥
jaa uhu niramal taan ham jachanaa |3|
Since He is immaculately pure, I correspond to Him. ||3||
ਹਮ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਏਕੈ ਓਹੀ ॥
ham kichh naahee ekai ohee |
I am nothing; He is the One and only.
ਆਗੈ ਪਾਛੈ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਈ ॥
aagai paachhai eko soee |
Before and after, He alone exists.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਖੋਏ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭੰਗਾ ॥
naanak gur khoe bhram bhangaa |
O Nanak, the Guru has taken away my doubts and mistakes;
ਹਮ ਓਇ ਮਿਲਿ ਹੋਏ ਇਕ ਰੰਗਾ ॥੪॥੩੨॥੮੩॥
ham oe mil hoe ik rangaa |4|32|83|
He and I, joining together, are of the same color. ||4||32||83||

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਅਨਿਕ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੀਐ ॥
anik bhaant kar sevaa kareeai |
Serve Him in many different ways;
ਜੀਉ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਧਨੁ ਆਗੈ ਧਰੀਐ ॥
jeeo praan dhan aagai dhareeai |
Dedicate your soul, your breath of life and your wealth to Him.
ਪਾਨੀ ਪਖਾ ਕਰਉ ਤਜਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥
paanee pakhaa krau taj abhimaan |
Carry water for Him, and wave the fan over Him - renounce your ego.
ਅਨਿਕ ਬਾਰ ਜਾਈਐ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੁ ॥੧॥
anik baar jaaeeai kurabaan |1|
Make yourself a sacrifice to Him, time and time again. ||1||
ਸਾਈ ਸੁਹਾਗਣਿ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਈ ॥
saaee suhaagan jo prabh bhaaee |
She alone is the happy soul-bride, who is pleasing to God.
ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਉ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tis kai sang milau meree maaee |1| rahaau |
In her company, I may meet Him, O my mother. ||1||Pause||
ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸੀ ਕੀ ਪਨਿਹਾਰਿ ॥
daasan daasee kee panihaar |
I am the water-carrier of the slaves of His slaves.
ਉਨੑ ਕੀ ਰੇਣੁ ਬਸੈ ਜੀਅ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
auna kee ren basai jeea naal |
I treasure in my soul the dust of their feet.
ਮਾਥੈ ਭਾਗੁ ਤ ਪਾਵਉ ਸੰਗੁ ॥
maathai bhaag ta paavau sang |
By that good destiny inscribed upon my forehead, I obtain their society.
ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅਪੁਨੈ ਰੰਗਿ ॥੨॥
milai suaamee apunai rang |2|
Through His Love, the Lord Master meets me. ||2||
ਜਾਪ ਤਾਪ ਦੇਵਉ ਸਭ ਨੇਮਾ ॥
jaap taap devau sabh nemaa |
I dedicate all to Him - chanting and meditation, austerity and religious observances.
ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਅਰਪਉ ਸਭ ਹੋਮਾ ॥
karam dharam arpau sabh homaa |
I offer all to Him - good actions, righteous conduct and incense burning.
ਗਰਬੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਤਜਿ ਹੋਵਉ ਰੇਨ ॥
garab mohu taj hovau ren |
Renouncing pride and attachment, I become the dust of the feet of the Saints.
ਉਨੑ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਦੇਖਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨੈਨ ॥੩॥
auna kai sang dekhau prabh nain |3|
In their society, I behold God with my eyes. ||3||
ਨਿਮਖ ਨਿਮਖ ਏਹੀ ਆਰਾਧਉ ॥
nimakh nimakh ehee aaraadhau |
Each and every moment, I contemplate and adore Him.
ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਏਹ ਸੇਵਾ ਸਾਧਉ ॥
dinas rain eeh sevaa saadhau |
Day and night, I serve Him like this.
ਭਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਗੁਪਾਲ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ॥
bhe kripaal gupaal gobind |
The Lord of the Universe, the Cherisher of the World, has become merciful;
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਖਸਿੰਦ ॥੪॥੩੩॥੮੪॥
saadhasang naanak bakhasind |4|33|84|
in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, O Nanak, He forgives us. ||4||33||84||

In the Love of God, eternal peace is obtained.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਗੈ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
prabh kee preet dukh lagai na koe |
In the Love of God, one is not touched by pain.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਲੁ ਖੋਇ ॥
prabh kee preet haumai mal khoe |
In the Love of God, the filth of ego is washed away.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਸਦ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
prabh kee preet sad niramal hoe |1|
In the Love of God, one becomes forever immaculate. ||1||
ਸੁਨਹੁ ਮੀਤ ਐਸਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
sunahu meet aisaa prem piaar |
Listen, O friend: show such love and affection to God,
ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਘਟ ਘਟ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jeea praan ghatt ghatt aadhaar |1| rahaau |
the Support of the soul, the breath of life, of each and every heart. ||1||Pause||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਭਏ ਸਗਲ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
prabh kee preet bhe sagal nidhaan |
In the Love of God, all treasures are obtained.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮ ॥
prabh kee preet ridai niramal naam |
In the Love of God, the Immaculate Naam fills the heart.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਸਦ ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤ ॥
prabh kee preet sad sobhaavant |
In the Love of God, one is eternally embellished.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਸਭ ਮਿਟੀ ਹੈ ਚਿੰਤ ॥੨॥
prabh kee preet sabh mittee hai chint |2|
In the Love of God, all anxiety is ended. ||2||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਇਹੁ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਤਰੈ ॥
prabh kee preet ihu bhavajal tarai |
In the Love of God, one crosses over this terrible world-ocean.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਜਮ ਤੇ ਨਹੀ ਡਰੈ ॥
prabh kee preet jam te nahee ddarai |
In the Love of God, one does not fear death.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਸਗਲ ਉਧਾਰੈ ॥
prabh kee preet sagal udhaarai |
In the Love of God, all are saved.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਚਲੈ ਸੰਗਾਰੈ ॥੩॥
prabh kee preet chalai sangaarai |3|
The Love of God shall go along with you. ||3||
ਆਪਹੁ ਕੋਈ ਮਿਲੈ ਨ ਭੂਲੈ ॥
aapahu koee milai na bhoolai |
By himself, no one is united, and no one goes astray.
ਜਿਸੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਘੂਲੈ ॥
jis kripaal tis saadhasang ghoolai |
One who is blessed by God's Mercy, joins the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰੈ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ॥
kahu naanak terai kurabaan |
Says Nanak, I am a sacrifice to You.
ਸੰਤ ਓਟ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰਾ ਤਾਣੁ ॥੪॥੩੪॥੮੫॥
sant ott prabh teraa taan |4|34|85|
O God, You are the Support and the Strength of the Saints. ||4||34||85||

Becoming a king, the mortal wields his royal authority;
ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਅਨਰਥ ਵਿਹਾਝੀ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
kar kar anarath vihaajhee maaeaa |
oppressing the people, he gathers wealth.
