ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਵੀਐ ਹਾਂ ॥
alakh abheveeai haan |
He is unknowable and inscrutable.
ਤਾਂ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
taan siau preet kar haan |
Enshrine love for Him.
ਬਿਨਸਿ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਮਰਿ ਹਾਂ ॥
binas na jaae mar haan |
He does not perish, or go away, or die.
ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਹਾਂ ॥
gur te jaaniaa haan |
He is known only through the Guru.
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੨॥੩॥੧੫੯॥
naanak man maaniaa mere manaa |2|3|159|
Nanak, my mind is satisfied with the Lord, O my mind. ||2||3||159||
ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ
ਆਸਾਵਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Aasaavaree, Fifth Mehl:
ਏਕਾ ਓਟ ਗਹੁ ਹਾਂ ॥
ekaa ott gahu haan |
Grab hold of the Support of the One Lord.
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਹੁ ਹਾਂ ॥
gur kaa sabad kahu haan |
Chant the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਆਗਿਆ ਸਤਿ ਸਹੁ ਹਾਂ ॥
aagiaa sat sahu haan |
Submit to the Order of the True Lord.
ਮਨਹਿ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਲਹੁ ਹਾਂ ॥
maneh nidhaan lahu haan |
Receive the treasure in your mind.
ਸੁਖਹਿ ਸਮਾਈਐ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sukheh samaaeeai mere manaa |1| rahaau |
Thus you shall be absorbed in peace, O my mind. ||1||Pause||
ਜੀਵਤ ਜੋ ਮਰੈ ਹਾਂ ॥
jeevat jo marai haan |
One who is dead while yet alive,
ਦੁਤਰੁ ਸੋ ਤਰੈ ਹਾਂ ॥
dutar so tarai haan |
crosses over the terrifying world-ocean.
ਸਭ ਕੀ ਰੇਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਹਾਂ ॥
sabh kee ren hoe haan |
One who becomes the dust of all
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਕਹਉ ਸੋਇ ਹਾਂ ॥
nirbhau khau soe haan |
he alone is called fearless.
ਮਿਟੇ ਅੰਦੇਸਿਆ ਹਾਂ ॥
mitte andesiaa haan |
His anxieties are removed
ਸੰਤ ਉਪਦੇਸਿਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥
sant upadesiaa mere manaa |1|
by the Teachings of the Saints, O my mind. ||1||
ਜਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਖੁ ਹਾਂ ॥
jis jan naam sukh haan |
That humble being, who takes happiness in the Naam, the Name of the Lord
ਤਿਸੁ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਕਦੇ ਦੁਖੁ ਹਾਂ ॥
tis nikatt na kade dukh haan |
pain never draws near him.
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਸੁਨੇ ਹਾਂ ॥
jo har har jas sune haan |
One who listens to the Praise of the Lord, Har, Har,
ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਮੰਨੇ ਹਾਂ ॥
sabh ko tis mane haan |
is obeyed by all men.
ਸਫਲੁ ਸੁ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ ॥
safal su aaeaa haan |
How fortunate it is that he came into the world;
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੨॥੪॥੧੬੦॥
naanak prabh bhaaeaa mere manaa |2|4|160|
Nanak, he is pleasing to God, O my mind. ||2||4||160||
ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ
ਆਸਾਵਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Aasaavaree, Fifth Mehl:
ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਈਐ ਹਾਂ ॥
mil har jas gaaeeai haan |
Meeting together, let us sing the Praises of the Lord,
ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਾਂ ॥
param pad paaeeai haan |
and attain the supreme state.
ਉਆ ਰਸ ਜੋ ਬਿਧੇ ਹਾਂ ॥
auaa ras jo bidhe haan |
Those who obtain that sublime essence,
ਤਾ ਕਉ ਸਗਲ ਸਿਧੇ ਹਾਂ ॥
taa kau sagal sidhe haan |
obtain all of the spiritual powers of the Siddhas.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਾਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ ॥
anadin jaagiaa haan |
They remain awake and aware night and day;
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਡਭਾਗਿਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
naanak baddabhaagiaa mere manaa |1| rahaau |
Nanak, they are blessed by great good fortune, O my mind. ||1||Pause||
ਸੰਤ ਪਗ ਧੋਈਐ ਹਾਂ ॥
sant pag dhoeeai haan |
Let us wash the feet of the Saints;
ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਖੋਈਐ ਹਾਂ ॥
duramat khoeeai haan |
our evil-mindedness shall be cleansed.
ਦਾਸਹ ਰੇਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਹਾਂ ॥
daasah ren hoe haan |
Becoming the dust of the feet of the Lord's slaves,
ਬਿਆਪੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ਹਾਂ ॥
biaapai dukh na koe haan |
one shall not be afflicted with pain.
ਭਗਤਾਂ ਸਰਨਿ ਪਰੁ ਹਾਂ ॥
bhagataan saran par haan |
Taking to the Sanctuary of His devotees,
ਜਨਮਿ ਨ ਕਦੇ ਮਰੁ ਹਾਂ ॥
janam na kade mar haan |
he is no longer subject to birth and death.
ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਸੇ ਭਏ ਹਾਂ ॥
asathir se bhe haan |
They alone become eternal,
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਿਨੑ ਜਪਿ ਲਏ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥
har har jina jap le mere manaa |1|
who chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, O my mind. ||1||
ਸਾਜਨੁ ਮੀਤੁ ਤੂੰ ਹਾਂ ॥
saajan meet toon haan |
You are my Friend, my Best Friend.
ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇ ਮੂੰ ਹਾਂ ॥
naam drirraae moon haan |
Please, implant the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within me.
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਹਿ ਕੋਇ ਹਾਂ ॥
tis bin naeh koe haan |
Without Him, there is not any other.
ਮਨਹਿ ਅਰਾਧਿ ਸੋਇ ਹਾਂ ॥
maneh araadh soe haan |
Within my mind, I worship Him in adoration.
ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਹਾਂ ॥
nimakh na veesarai haan |
I do not forget Him, even for an instant.
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਉ ਸਰੈ ਹਾਂ ॥
tis bin kiau sarai haan |
How can I live without Him?
ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੁ ਜਾਉ ਹਾਂ ॥
gur kau kurabaan jaau haan |
I am a sacrifice to the Guru.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਪੇ ਨਾਉ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੨॥੫॥੧੬੧॥

Nanak, chant the Name, O my mind. ||2||5||161||

ਕਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਤੂੰ ਹਾਂ ॥
kaaran karan toon haan |
You are the Creator, the Cause of causes.
ਅਵਰੁ ਨਾ ਸੁਝੈ ਮੂੰ ਹਾਂ ॥
avar naa sujhai moon haan |
I cannot think of any other.
ਕਰਹਿ ਸੁ ਹੋਈਐ ਹਾਂ ॥
kareh su hoeeai haan |
Whatever You do, comes to pass.
ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਖਿ ਸੋਈਐ ਹਾਂ ॥
sehaj sukh soeeai haan |
I sleep in peace and poise.
ਧੀਰਜ ਮਨਿ ਭਏ ਹਾਂ ॥
dheeraj man bhe haan |
My mind has become patient,
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਦਰਿ ਪਏ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
prabh kai dar pe mere manaa |1| rahaau |
since I fell at God's Door, O my mind. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਮੇ ਹਾਂ ॥
saadhoo sangame haan |
Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy,
ਪੂਰਨ ਸੰਜਮੇ ਹਾਂ ॥
pooran sanjame haan |
I gained perfect control over my senses.
ਜਬ ਤੇ ਛੁਟੇ ਆਪ ਹਾਂ ॥
jab te chhutte aap haan |
Ever since I rid myself of my self-conceit,
ਤਬ ਤੇ ਮਿਟੇ ਤਾਪ ਹਾਂ ॥
tab te mitte taap haan |
my sufferings have ended.
ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀਆ ਹਾਂ ॥
kirapaa dhaareea haan |
He has showered His Mercy upon me.
ਪਤਿ ਰਖੁ ਬਨਵਾਰੀਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥
pat rakh banavaareea mere manaa |1|
The Creator Lord has preserved my honor, O my mind. ||1||
ਇਹੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਜਾਨੀਐ ਹਾਂ ॥
eihu sukh jaaneeai haan |
Know that this is the only peace;
ਹਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਮਾਨੀਐ ਹਾਂ ॥
har kare su maaneeai haan |
accept whatever the Lord does.
ਮੰਦਾ ਨਾਹਿ ਕੋਇ ਹਾਂ ॥
mandaa naeh koe haan |
No one is bad.
ਸੰਤ ਕੀ ਰੇਨ ਹੋਇ ਹਾਂ ॥
sant kee ren hoe haan |
Become the dust of the Feet of the Saints.
ਆਪੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਰਖੈ ਹਾਂ ॥
aape jis rakhai haan |
He Himself preserves those
ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸੋ ਚਖੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੨॥
har amrit so chakhai mere manaa |2|
who taste the Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord, O my mind. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਨਾਹਿ ਕੋਇ ਹਾਂ ॥
jis kaa naeh koe haan |
One who has no one to call his own
ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸੋਇ ਹਾਂ ॥
tis kaa prabhoo soe haan |
God belongs to him.
ਅੰਤਰਗਤਿ ਬੁਝੈ ਹਾਂ ॥
antaragat bujhai haan |
God knows the state of our innermost being.
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਸੁਝੈ ਹਾਂ ॥
sabh kichh tis sujhai haan |
He knows everything.
ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਹਾਂ ॥
patit udhaar lehu haan |
Please, Lord, save the sinners.
ਨਾਨਕ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਏਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੩॥੬॥੧੬੨॥
naanak aradaas ehu mere manaa |3|6|162|
This is Nanak's prayer, O my mind. ||3||6||162||

sunat sandesiaa haan |1| rahaau |

ਜਾ ਸਿਉ ਰਚਿ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ ॥
