ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਤਿਨਿ ਕੀਨੋ ਰਾਜਾ ॥
bhaat bhaat tin keeno raajaa |
ਦੇਸ ਦੇਸ ਕੇ ਜੀਤਿ ਸਮਾਜਾ ॥
des des ke jeet samaajaa |
He ruled in various ways after conquering various countries far and near
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਕੇ ਦੇਸ ਛਿਨਾਏ ॥
bhaat bhaat ke des chhinaae |
ਪੈਗ ਪੈਗ ਪਰ ਜਗਿ ਕਰਾਏ ॥੧੫੭॥
paig paig par jag karaae |157|
Seizing various countries, he performed Yajnas after short intervals.157.
ਪਗ ਪਗ ਜਗਿ ਖੰਭ ਕਹੁ ਗਾਡਾ ॥
pag pag jag khanbh kahu gaaddaa |
ਡਗ ਡਗ ਹੋਮ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਿ ਛਾਡਾ ॥
ddag ddag hom mantr kar chhaaddaa |
He got planted the columns of Yajnas at short distances and performed heaven at various places by reciting mantras
ਐਸੀ ਧਰਾ ਨ ਦਿਖੀਅਤ ਕੋਈ ॥
aisee dharaa na dikheeat koee |
ਜਗਿ ਖੰਭ ਜਿਹ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੧੫੮॥
jag khanbh jih tthaur na hoee |158|
No part of the earth was visible, where no columns of Yajnas were seen.158.
ਗਵਾਲੰਭ ਬਹੁ ਜਗ ਕਰੇ ਬਰ ॥
gavaalanbh bahu jag kare bar |
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਣ ਬੋਲਿ ਬਿਸੇਖ ਧਰਮਧਰ ॥
brahaman bol bisekh dharamadhar |
Inviting superb Brahmins, he performed many Gomedh Yajnas
ਬਾਜਮੇਧ ਬਹੁ ਬਾਰਨ ਕੀਨੇ ॥
baajamedh bahu baaran keene |
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਭੂਯ ਕੇ ਰਸ ਲੀਨੇ ॥੧੫੯॥
bhaat bhaat bhooy ke ras leene |159|
Enjoying various types of the luxuries of the earth, he also performed Ashvamedh Yajnas many times.159.
ਗਜਾ ਮੇਧ ਬਹੁ ਕਰੇ ਜਗਿ ਤਿਹ ॥
gajaa medh bahu kare jag tih |
ਅਜਾ ਮੇਧ ਤੇ ਸਕੈ ਨ ਗਨ ਕਿਹ ॥
ajaa medh te sakai na gan kih |
He also performed Gajmedh Yajnas and he performed Ajaamedh Yajnas so many times that they cannot be enumerated
ਗਵਾਲੰਭ ਕਰਿ ਬਿਧਿ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰੰ ॥
gavaalanbh kar bidh prakaaran |
ਪਸੁ ਅਨੇਕ ਮਾਰੇ ਤਿਹ ਬਾਰੰ ॥੧੬੦॥
pas anek maare tih baaran |160|
Performing Gomedh Yajnas in various ways, he sacrificed many animals.160.
ਰਾਜਸੂਅ ਕਰਿ ਬਿਬਿਧ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰੰ ॥
raajasooa kar bibidh prakaaran |
ਦੁਤੀਆ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਰਘੁ ਰਾਜ ਅਪਾਰੰ ॥
duteea indr ragh raaj apaaran |
Performing many Raajsu Yajnas, the king Raghu seemed like a second Indra
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਕੇ ਬਿਧਵਤ ਦਾਨਾ ॥
bhaat bhaat ke bidhavat daanaa |
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਰ ਤੀਰਥ ਨਾਨਾ ॥੧੬੧॥
bhaat bhaat kar teerath naanaa |161|
After taking baths at different pilgrim-stations, he bestowed various types of charities according to Vedic injunctions.161.
ਸਰਬ ਤੀਰਥ ਪਰਿ ਪਾਵਰ ਬਾਧਾ ॥
sarab teerath par paavar baadhaa |
ਅੰਨ ਛੇਤ੍ਰ ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਮੈ ਸਾਧਾ ॥
an chhetr ghar ghar mai saadhaa |
He got built places for drinking water at all the pilgrim-stations and stores of corn in every home,
ਆਸਾਵੰਤ ਕਹੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਆਵੈ ॥
aasaavant kahoon koee aavai |
ਤਤਛਿਨ ਮੁਖ ਮੰਗੈ ਸੋ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੧੬੨॥
tatachhin mukh mangai so paavai |162|
So that if anyone comes with any desire, he may be able to obtain the desired thing.162.
ਭੂਖ ਨਾਗ ਕੋਈ ਰਹਨ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
bhookh naag koee rehan na paavai |
ਭੂਪਤਿ ਹੁਐ ਕਰਿ ਰੰਕ ਸਿਧਾਵੈ ॥
bhoopat huai kar rank sidhaavai |
Nobody should remain hungry or naked and any beggar who came, may return like a king
ਬਹੁਰ ਦਾਨ ਕਹ ਕਰ ਨ ਪਸਾਰਾ ॥
bahur daan keh kar na pasaaraa |
ਏਕ ਬਾਰਿ ਰਘੁ ਰਾਜ ਨਿਹਾਰਾ ॥੧੬੩॥
ek baar ragh raaj nihaaraa |163|
The king Raghu had such administration that anyone, who would see him once, he would become able to bestow charities himself on others.163.
ਸ੍ਵਰਣ ਦਾਨ ਦੇ ਬਿਬਿਧ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰਾ ॥
svaran daan de bibidh prakaaraa |
ਰੁਕਮ ਦਾਨ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਯਤ ਪਾਰਾ ॥
rukam daan nahee paayat paaraa |
He gave gifts of gold and silver in various ways
ਸਾਜਿ ਸਾਜਿ ਬਹੁ ਦੀਨੇ ਬਾਜਾ ॥
saaj saaj bahu deene baajaa |
ਜਨ ਸਭ ਕਰੇ ਰੰਕ ਰਘੁ ਰਾਜਾ ॥੧੬੪॥
jan sabh kare rank ragh raajaa |164|
He gave so much to everyone that the recipient became like a king form the status of poor.164.
ਹਸਤ ਦਾਨ ਅਰ ਉਸਟਨ ਦਾਨਾ ॥
hasat daan ar usattan daanaa |
ਗਊ ਦਾਨ ਬਿਧਿਵਤ ਇਸਨਾਨਾ ॥
gaoo daan bidhivat isanaanaa |
He would take bath according to Shastric injunctions and then give gifts of elephants, camels and cows
ਹੀਰ ਚੀਰ ਦੇ ਦਾਨ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
heer cheer de daan apaaraa |
ਮੋਹ ਸਬੈ ਮਹਿ ਮੰਡਲ ਡਾਰਾ ॥੧੬੫॥
moh sabai meh manddal ddaaraa |165|
By bestowing gifts of various types of garments, he had fascinated the whole earth.165.
ਬਾਜੀ ਦੇਤ ਗਜਨ ਕੇ ਦਾਨਾ ॥
baajee det gajan ke daanaa |
ਭਾਤਿ ਭਾਤਿ ਦੀਨਨ ਸਨਮਾਨਾ ॥
bhaat bhaat deenan sanamaanaa |
By honouring various types of the lowly, he gave horses and elephants in charity
ਦੂਖ ਭੂਖ ਕਾਹੂੰ ਨ ਸੰਤਾਵੈ ॥
dookh bhookh kaahoon na santaavai |
ਜੋ ਮੁਖ ਮਾਗੈ ਵਹ ਬਰੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੧੬੬॥
jo mukh maagai veh bar paavai |166|
None was afflicted with suffering and hunger and whosoever asked with suffering and hunger and whosoever asked for anything, he obtained the same.166.
ਦਾਨ ਸੀਲ ਕੋ ਜਾਨ ਪਹਾਰਾ ॥
daan seel ko jaan pahaaraa |
ਦਇਆ ਸਿੰਧ ਰਘੁ ਰਾਜ ਭੁਆਰਾ ॥
deaa sindh ragh raaj bhuaaraa |
The king Raghu was the abode of charity and gentleness and an ocean of mercy on this earth
ਸੁੰਦਰ ਮਹਾ ਧਨੁਖ ਧਰ ਆਛਾ ॥
sundar mahaa dhanukh dhar aachhaa |
ਜਨੁ ਅਲਿਪਨਚ ਕਾਛ ਤਨ ਕਾਛਾ ॥੧੬੭॥
jan alipanach kaachh tan kaachhaa |167|
He was a great and expert archer and a glorious king, always remaining detached.167.
ਨਿਤਿ ਉਠਿ ਕਰਤ ਦੇਵ ਕੀ ਪੂਜਾ ॥
nit utth karat dev kee poojaa |
ਫੂਲ ਗੁਲਾਬ ਕੇਵੜਾ ਕੂਜਾ ॥
fool gulaab kevarraa koojaa |
He always worshipped the goddess with roses, pandanus and sugar-candyy
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਨਿਤਿ ਸੀਸ ਲਗਾਵੈ ॥
charan kamal nit sees lagaavai |
ਪੂਜਨ ਨਿਤ ਚੰਡਿਕਾ ਆਵੈ ॥੧੬੮॥
poojan nit chanddikaa aavai |168|
And while worshipping, he touched her lotus-feet with his head.168.
ਧਰਮ ਰੀਤਿ ਸਬ ਠੌਰ ਚਲਾਈ ॥
dharam reet sab tthauar chalaaee |
ਜਤ੍ਰ ਤਤ੍ਰ ਸੁਖ ਬਸੀ ਲੁਗਾਈ ॥
jatr tatr sukh basee lugaaee |
He introduced the religious traditions at all places and all the people lived peacefully everywhere
ਭੂਖ ਨਾਗ ਕੋਈ ਕਹੂੰ ਨ ਦੇਖਾ ॥
bhookh naag koee kahoon na dekhaa |
ਊਚ ਨੀਚ ਸਬ ਧਨੀ ਬਿਸੇਖਾ ॥੧੬੯॥
aooch neech sab dhanee bisekhaa |169|
There did not seem to be any hungry and naked, high and low and everyone seemed to be a self-sufficient person.169.
ਜਹ ਤਹ ਧਰਮ ਧੁਜਾ ਫਹਰਾਈ ॥
jeh teh dharam dhujaa faharaaee |
ਚੋਰ ਜਾਰ ਨਹ ਦੇਤ ਦਿਖਾਈ ॥
chor jaar neh det dikhaaee |
The religious banners fluttered everywhere and there seemed to be no thief or Thug anywhere
ਜਹ ਤਹ ਯਾਰ ਚੋਰ ਚੁਨਿ ਮਾਰਾ ॥
jeh teh yaar chor chun maaraa |
ਏਕ ਦੇਸਿ ਕਹੂੰ ਰਹੈ ਨ ਪਾਰਾ ॥੧੭੦॥
ek des kahoon rahai na paaraa |170|
He had picked up and killed all the thieves and Thugs and had established one-canopy kingdom.170.
ਸਾਧ ਓਰਿ ਕੋਈ ਦਿਸਟਿ ਨ ਪੇਖਾ ॥
saadh or koee disatt na pekhaa |
ਐਸ ਰਾਜ ਰਘੁ ਰਾਜ ਬਿਸੇਖਵਾ ॥
ais raaj ragh raaj bisekhavaa |
The kingdom of king Raghu was such that the differentiation of a saint and a thief did not exist there and all were saits
ਚਾਰੋ ਦਿਸਾ ਚਕ੍ਰ ਫਹਰਾਵੈ ॥
chaaro disaa chakr faharaavai |
ਪਾਪਿਨ ਕਾਟਿ ਮੂੰਡ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵੈ ॥੧੭੧॥
paapin kaatt moondd fir aavai |171|
His discus fluttered in all the four directions, which returned only on cutting the heads of the sinners.171.
ਗਾਇ ਸਿੰਘ ਕਹੁ ਦੂਧ ਪਿਲਾਵੈ ॥
gaae singh kahu doodh pilaavai |
ਸਿੰਘ ਗਊ ਕਹ ਘਾਸੁ ਚੁਗਾਵੈ ॥
singh gaoo keh ghaas chugaavai |
The cow caused the lion to drink milk and the lion supervised the cow while grazing
ਚੋਰ ਕਰਤ ਧਨ ਕੀ ਰਖਵਾਰਾ ॥
chor karat dhan kee rakhavaaraa |
ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਮਾਰਿ ਕੋਈ ਹਾਥੁ ਨ ਡਾਰਾ ॥੧੭੨॥
traas maar koee haath na ddaaraa |172|
The persons considered to be thieves now protected the wealth and none committed any wrong act because of the fear of punishment.172.
ਨਾਰਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਸੋਵਤ ਇਕ ਸੇਜਾ ॥
naar purakh sovat ik sejaa |
ਹਾਥ ਪਸਾਰ ਨ ਸਾਕਤ ਰੇਜਾ ॥
haath pasaar na saakat rejaa |
The men and women slept peacefully in their beds and none begged for anything from others
ਪਾਵਕ ਘ੍ਰਿਤ ਇਕ ਠਉਰ ਰਖਾਏ ॥
paavak ghrit ik tthaur rakhaae |
ਰਾਜ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਤੇ ਢਰੈ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥੧੭੩॥
raaj traas te dtarai na paae |173|
The ghee and fire lived at the same places, and did not damage each other because of the fear of the king.173.
ਚੋਰ ਸਾਧ ਮਗ ਏਕ ਸਿਧਾਰੈ ॥
chor saadh mag ek sidhaarai |
ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਤ੍ਰਸਤ ਕਰੁ ਕੋਈ ਨ ਡਾਰੈ ॥
traas trasat kar koee na ddaarai |
The thief and saints moved together and none frightened any fear because of the fear of the administration
ਗਾਇ ਸਿੰਘ ਇਕ ਖੇਤ ਫਿਰਾਹੀ ॥
gaae singh ik khet firaahee |
ਹਾਥ ਚਲਾਇ ਸਕਤ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੧੭੪॥
haath chalaae sakat koee naahee |174|
The cow and the lion moved freely in the same field and no power could harm them.174.
