ਜਨੁ ਤਿਨੁ ਭੇਟ ਪੁਰਾਤਨ ਦੇਹੀ ॥੨੧॥

The wounds on heads caused by the brick-hittings, appear like the previous offering given to them.21.

ਕਬਹੂੰ ਰਣ ਜੂਝਿਓ ਨਹੀ ਕਛੁ ਦੈ ਜਸੁ ਨਹਿ ਲੀਨ ॥
kabahoon ran joojhio nahee kachh dai jas neh leen |
Those who have never participated in the war in the battlefield and also have not earned approbation by offering bride.
ਗਾਂਵ ਬਸਤ ਜਾਨਿਯੋ ਨਹੀ ਜਮ ਸੋ ਕਿਨ ਕਹਿ ਦੀਨ ॥੨੨॥
gaanv basat jaaniyo nahee jam so kin keh deen |22|
Who are not known by anybody as the residents of the village, it is, indeed, wonderful as to who hath given their address to Yama (the god of death)?22.

ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਤਿਨੋ ਭਯੋ ਉਪਹਾਸਾ ॥

ਸਭ ਸੰਤਨ ਮਿਲਿ ਲਖਿਓ ਤਮਾਸਾ ॥
sabh santan mil lakhio tamaasaa |
In this way, the apostates received foul treatment. All the saints saw this spectacle.
ਸੰਤਨ ਕਸਟ ਨ ਦੇਖਨ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
santan kasatt na dekhan paayo |
ਆਪ ਹਾਥ ਦੈ ਨਾਥ ਬਚਾਯੋ ॥੨੩॥
aap haath dai naath bachaayo |23|
No harm was done to them, the Lord saved them Himself.23.

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਸਾਜਨ ਰਾਖਸੀ ਦੁਸਮਨ ਕਵਨ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥

To whomsoever the Lord protects, the enemy can do nothing to him.
ਛ੍ਵੈ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਤਿਹ ਛਾਹਿ ਕੌ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਜਾਇ ਗਵਾਰ ॥੨੪॥
chhvai na sakai tih chhaeh kau nihafal jaae gavaar |24|
None can touch his shadow, the fool makes useless effort.24.
ਜੋ ਸਾਧੂ ਸਰਣੀ ਪਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਕਵਨ ਬਿਚਾਰ ॥
jo saadhoo saranee pare tin ke kavan bichaar |
Those who have taken refuge with the saints, what can be said about them?
ਦੰਤ ਜੀਭ ਜਿਮ ਰਾਖਿ ਹੈ ਦੁਸਟ ਅਰਿਸਟ ਸੰਘਾਰ ॥੨੫॥
dant jeebh jim raakh hai dusatt arisatt sanghaar |25|
God saves from the inimical and wicked persons by destroying them, just as the tongue is protected within the teeth.25.

ਸਰਬ ਕਾਲ ਸਭ ਸਾਧ ਉਬਾਰੇ ॥
sarab kaal sabh saadh ubaare |
ਦੁਖੁ ਦੈ ਕੈ ਦੋਖੀ ਸਭ ਮਾਰੇ ॥
dukh dai kai dokhee sabh maare |
At all times, the Lord protected all the saints and hath killed all the malicious persons, subjecting them to great agony.
ਅਦਭੁਤਿ ਗਤਿ ਭਗਤਨ ਦਿਖਰਾਈ ॥
adabhut gat bhagatan dikharaaee |
ਸਭ ਸੰਕਟ ਤੇ ਲਏ ਬਚਾਈ ॥੧॥
sabh sankatt te le bachaaee |1|
He hath exhibited His marvelous State to saints and hath saved them from all sufferings.1.
ਸਭ ਸੰਕਟ ਤੇ ਸੰਤ ਬਚਾਏ ॥
sabh sankatt te sant bachaae |
ਸਭ ਕੰਟਕ ਕੰਟਕ ਜਿਮ ਘਾਏ ॥
sabh kanttak kanttak jim ghaae |
He hath saved His saints from all sufferings. He hath destroyed all the malevolent persons like the thorns.
ਦਾਸ ਜਾਨ ਮੁਹਿ ਕਰੀ ਸਹਾਇ ॥
daas jaan muhi karee sahaae |
ਆਪ ਹਾਥ ਦੈ ਲਯੋ ਬਚਾਇ ॥੨॥
aap haath dai layo bachaae |2|
Considering me as His Servant, He hath helped me, and hath protected me with His own hands.2.
ਅਬ ਜੋ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਲਖੇ ਤਮਾਸਾ ॥
ab jo jo main lakhe tamaasaa |
ਸੋ ਸੋ ਕਰੋ ਤੁਮੈ ਅਰਦਾਸਾ ॥
so so karo tumai aradaasaa |
All hose spectacles which have been visualized by me, I dedicate all of them to Thee.
ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਟਾਛ ਦਿਖੈਹੈ ॥
jo prabh kirapaa kattaachh dikhaihai |
ਸੋ ਤਵ ਦਾਸ ਉਚਾਰਤ ਜੈਹੈ ॥੩॥
so tav daas uchaarat jaihai |3|
If Thou castest Thy Merciful glance at me, then Thy Servant shall utter all.3.
ਜਿਹ ਜਿਹ ਬਿਧ ਮੈ ਲਖੇ ਤਮਾਸਾ ॥
jih jih bidh mai lakhe tamaasaa |
ਚਾਹਤ ਤਿਨ ਕੋ ਕੀਯੋ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸਾ ॥
chaahat tin ko keeyo prakaasaa |
The kinds of spectacles that I have seen, I want to enlighten (the world) about them.
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਜਨਮ ਪੂਰਬਲੇ ਹੇਰੇ ॥
jo jo janam poorabale here |
ਕਹਿਹੋ ਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਰਾਕ੍ਰਮ ਤੇਰੇ ॥੪॥
kahiho su prabh paraakram tere |4|
All the past lives that have peeped into, I shall speak about them with Thy Power.4.
ਸਰਬ ਕਾਲ ਹੈ ਪਿਤਾ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
sarab kaal hai pitaa apaaraa |
ਦੇਬਿ ਕਾਲਿਕਾ ਮਾਤ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥
deb kaalikaa maat hamaaraa |
He, my Lord is Father and Destroyer of all, the goddess Kalika is my mother.
ਮਨੂਆ ਗੁਰ ਮੁਰਿ ਮਨਸਾ ਮਾਈ ॥
manooaa gur mur manasaa maaee |
ਜਿਨ ਮੋ ਕੋ ਸੁਭ ਕ੍ਰਿਆ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ॥੫॥
jin mo ko subh kriaa parrhaaee |5|
The mind is my Guru and the discriminating intellect, the Guru’s wife is my mother, who hath taught me all about good deeds.5.
ਜਬ ਮਨਸਾ ਮਨ ਮਯਾ ਬਿਚਾਰੀ ॥
jab manasaa man mayaa bichaaree |
ਗੁਰ ਮਨੂਆ ਕਹ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਸੁਧਾਰੀ ॥
gur manooaa keh kahiyo sudhaaree |
When I (as mind) reflected on the kindness of the discriminating intellect, the Guru0mind uttered his refined statement.
ਜੇ ਜੇ ਚਰਿਤ ਪੁਰਾਤਨ ਲਹੇ ॥
je je charit puraatan lahe |
ਤੇ ਤੇ ਅਬ ਚਹੀਅਤ ਹੈ ਕਹੇ ॥੬॥
te te ab chaheeat hai kahe |6|
All the wonderful things that were comprehended by the ancient sages, I want to speak about all of them.6.
ਸਰਬ ਕਾਲ ਕਰਣਾ ਤਬ ਭਰੇ ॥
sarab kaal karanaa tab bhare |
ਸੇਵਕ ਜਾਨ ਦਯਾ ਰਸ ਢਰੇ ॥
sevak jaan dayaa ras dtare |
Then my Lord, Destroyer of all, was filled with kindness and considering me as His servant, He was gracefully pleased.
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਜਨਮ ਪੁਰਬਲੋ ਭਯੋ ॥
jo jo janam purabalo bhayo |
ਸੋ ਸੋ ਸਭ ਸਿਮਰਣ ਕਰ ਦਯੋ ॥੭॥
so so sabh simaran kar dayo |7|
The births of all the incarnations in the previous ages, He hath caused me to remember all of them.7.
ਮੋ ਕੌ ਇਤੀ ਹੁਤੀ ਕਹ ਸੁੱਧੰ ॥
mo kau itee hutee keh sudhan |
ਜਸ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਈ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਬੁੱਧੰ ॥
jas prabh dee kripaa kar budhan |
How could I have all this information? The Lord mercifully gave such intellect.
ਸਰਬ ਕਾਲ ਤਬ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
sarab kaal tab bhe deaalaa |
ਲੋਹ ਰਛ ਹਮ ਕੋ ਸਬ ਕਾਲਾ ॥੮॥
loh rachh ham ko sab kaalaa |8|
My Lord, the Destroyer of all, then became Benevolent, At all times, I gave the Protection of at that steel-incarnated Lord.8.
ਸਰਬ ਕਾਲ ਰੱਛਾ ਸਬ ਕਾਲ ॥
sarab kaal rachhaa sab kaal |
ਲੋਹ ਰੱਛ ਸਰਬਦਾ ਬਿਸਾਲ ॥
loh rachh sarabadaa bisaal |
At all times, Lord, Destroyer of all, protects me. That All-Pervading Lord is my Protector like Steel.
ਢੀਠ ਭਯੋ ਤਵ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਲਖਾਈ ॥
dteetth bhayo tav kripaa lakhaaee |
ਐਂਡੋ ਫਿਰੋ ਸਭਨ ਭਯੋ ਰਾਈ ॥੯॥
ainddo firo sabhan bhayo raaee |9|
Comprehending Thy Kindness, I have become fearless and in my pride, I consider myself as the king of all. 9.
ਜਿਹ ਜਿਹ ਬਿਧ ਜਨਮਨ ਸੁਧਿ ਆਈ ॥
jih jih bidh janaman sudh aaee |
ਤਿਮ ਤਿਮ ਕਹੇ ਗਿਰੰਥ ਬਨਾਈ ॥
tim tim kahe giranth banaaee |
The way in which I came to know about the births of incarnations, in the same manner, I have rendered them in books.
ਪ੍ਰਥਮੇ ਸਤਿਜੁਗ ਜਿਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਲਹਾ ॥
prathame satijug jih bidh lahaa |
ਪ੍ਰਥਮੇ ਦੇਬਿ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਕੋ ਕਹਾ ॥੧੦॥
prathame deb charitr ko kahaa |10|
The way, in which I came to know about Satyuga, I have narrated it in the first poem of the miraculous feats of the goddess.10.
ਪਹਿਲੇ ਚੰਡੀ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਬਨਾਯੋ ॥
pahile chanddee charitr banaayo |
ਨਖ ਸਿਖ ਤੇ ਕ੍ਰਮ ਭਾਖ ਸੁਨਾਯੋ ॥
nakh sikh te kram bhaakh sunaayo |
The miraculous feats of goddess Chandi have been composed earlier, I have compsed (the same) in strict order from top to toe.
ਛੋਰ ਕਥਾ ਤਬ ਪ੍ਰਥਮ ਸੁਨਾਈ ॥

ਅਬ ਚਾਹਤ ਫਿਰਿ ਕਰੋਂ ਬਡਾਈ ॥੧੧॥
