ਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਚਿਤ ਯੌ ਬਚਨ ਉਚਾਰੇ ॥੩੨॥
chitr chit yau bachan uchaare |32|
Mter losing all his belongings and horses, that clever man said,(32)
ਚੌਪਰ ਬਾਜ ਤੋਹਿ ਤਬ ਜਾਨੋ ॥
chauapar baaj tohi tab jaano |
ਮੇਰੋ ਕਹਿਯੋ ਏਕ ਤੁਮ ਮਾਨੋ ॥
mero kahiyo ek tum maano |
‘I will accept you as a chess-master only if you do what I say.
ਸਿਰਕਪ ਕੇ ਸੰਗ ਖੇਲ ਰਚਾਵੋ ॥
sirakap ke sang khel rachaavo |
ਤਬ ਇਹ ਖੇਲ ਜੀਤਿ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਆਵੋ ॥੩੩॥
tab ih khel jeet grih aavo |33|
‘You play the game with the killer-Raja and come back home alive.’(33)
ਯੌ ਸੁਣ ਬਚਨ ਰਿਸਾਲੂ ਧਾਯੋ ॥
yau sun bachan risaaloo dhaayo |
ਚੜਿ ਘੋਰਾ ਪੈ ਤਹੀ ਸਿਧਾਯੋ ॥
charr ghoraa pai tahee sidhaayo |
Harking to this, Rasaloo mounted his horse started his journey.
ਸਿਰਕਪ ਕੇ ਦੇਸੰਤਰ ਆਯੋ ॥
sirakap ke desantar aayo |
ਆਨਿ ਰਾਵ ਸੌ ਖੇਲ ਰਚਾਯੋ ॥੩੪॥
aan raav sau khel rachaayo |34|
He came to the country of killer-Raja, and started to play with that Raja.(34)
ਤਬ ਸਿਰਕਪ ਛਲ ਅਧਿਕ ਸੁ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
tab sirakap chhal adhik su dhaare |
ਸਸਤ੍ਰ ਅਸਤ੍ਰ ਬਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਜੁਤ ਹਾਰੇ ॥
sasatr asatr basatran jut haare |
In spite of all his cleverness, the killer-Raja lost all his arms, clothes and belongings.
ਧਨ ਹਰਾਇ ਸਿਰ ਬਾਜੀ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
dhan haraae sir baajee laagee |
ਸੋਊ ਜੀਤਿ ਲਈ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ॥੩੫॥
soaoo jeet lee baddabhaagee |35|
After losing all his wealth he bet his head and that too the lucky Rasaloo won over.(35)
ਜੀਤਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਮਾਰਨ ਲੈ ਧਾਯੋ ॥
jeet taeh maaran lai dhaayo |
ਯੌ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਰਨਿਵਾਸਹਿ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
yau sun kai ranivaaseh paayo |
After winning over when he was taking him to kill, he heard this from the direction of the Rani.
ਯਾ ਕੀ ਸੁਤਾ ਕੋਕਿਲਾ ਲੀਜੈ ॥
yaa kee sutaa kokilaa leejai |
ਜਿਯ ਤੇ ਬਧ ਯਾ ਕੌ ਨਹਿ ਕੀਜੈ ॥੩੬॥
jiy te badh yaa kau neh keejai |36|
‘Let us get his daughter Kokila and do not kill him.’(36)
ਤਬ ਤਿਹ ਜਾਨ ਮਾਫ ਕੈ ਦਈ ॥
tab tih jaan maaf kai dee |
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਸੁਤਾ ਕੋਕਿਲਾ ਲਈ ॥
taa kee sutaa kokilaa lee |
Then he pardoned his life and took his daughter Kokila.
ਦੰਡਕਾਰ ਮੈ ਸਦਨ ਸਵਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
danddakaar mai sadan savaariyo |
ਤਾ ਕੇ ਬੀਚ ਰਾਖ ਤਿਹ ਧਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੩੭॥
taa ke beech raakh tih dhaariyo |37|
In the wilderness he built a house and he kept her there.(37)
ਤਾ ਕੌ ਲਰਿਕਾਪਨ ਜਬ ਗਯੋ ॥
taa kau larikaapan jab gayo |
ਜੋਬਨ ਆਨਿ ਦਮਾਮੋ ਦਯੋ ॥
joban aan damaamo dayo |
Although her childhood had gone past and .the youth has taken over,
ਰਾਜਾ ਨਿਕਟ ਨ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਆਵੈ ॥
raajaa nikatt na taa ke aavai |
ਯਾ ਤੇ ਅਤਿ ਰਾਨੀ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੇ ॥੩੮॥
yaa te at raanee dukh paave |38|
Raja would not come to see (that) Rani and the Rani would get very upset.(38)
ਏਕ ਦਿਵਸ ਰਾਜਾ ਜਬ ਆਯੋ ॥
ek divas raajaa jab aayo |
ਤਬ ਰਾਨੀ ਯੌ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਨਾਯੋ ॥
tab raanee yau bachan sunaayo |
One day when Raja passed by, the Rani said,
ਹਮ ਕੋ ਲੈ ਤੁਮ ਸੰਗ ਸਿਧਾਰੌ ॥
ham ko lai tum sang sidhaarau |
ਬਨ ਮੈ ਜਹਾ ਮ੍ਰਿਗਨ ਕੌ ਮਾਰੌ ॥੩੯॥
ban mai jahaa mrigan kau maarau |39|
‘Please take me with you to place where you go for deer hunting.’(39)
ਲੈ ਰਾਜਾ ਤਿਹ ਸੰਗ ਸਿਧਾਯੋ ॥
lai raajaa tih sang sidhaayo |
ਜਹ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਹਨਤ ਹੇਤ ਤਹ ਆਯੋ ॥
jeh mrig hanat het teh aayo |
Raja took her with him where he was going for hunting the deer.
ਦੈ ਫੇਰਾ ਸਰ ਸੌ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
dai feraa sar sau mrig maariyo |
ਯਹ ਕੌਤਕ ਕੋਕਿਲਾ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੪੦॥
yeh kauatak kokilaa nihaariyo |40|
Raja killed the deer with his own arrows and she witnessed the whole scene.(40)
ਤਬ ਰਾਨੀ ਯੌ ਬਚਨ ਉਚਾਰੇ ॥
tab raanee yau bachan uchaare |
ਸੁਨੋ ਬਾਤ ਨ੍ਰਿਪ ਨਾਥ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥
suno baat nrip naath hamaare |
Then the Rani said, ‘Listen my Raja, ‘I can kill the deer with the sharp arrows of my eyes.
ਦ੍ਰਿਗ ਸਰ ਸੋ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਕੋ ਹੌ ਮਾਰੌ ॥
drig sar so mrig ko hau maarau |
ਤੁਮ ਠਾਢੇ ਯਹ ਚਰਿਤ ਨਿਹਾਰੋ ॥੪੧॥
tum tthaadte yeh charit nihaaro |41|
You stay here and watch all the episode.(41)
ਘੂੰਘਟ ਛੋਰਿ ਕੋਕਿਲਾ ਧਾਈ ॥
ghoonghatt chhor kokilaa dhaaee |
ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਲਖਿ ਤਾਹਿ ਗਯੋ ਉਰਝਾਈ ॥
mrig lakh taeh gayo urajhaaee |
Unveiling her face, Kokila came forward and the deer was dazed to her.
ਅਮਿਤ ਰੂਪ ਜਬ ਤਾਹਿ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
amit roop jab taeh nihaariyo |
ਠਾਢਿ ਰਹਿਯੋ ਨਹਿ ਸੰਕ ਪਧਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੪੨॥
tthaadt rahiyo neh sank padhaariyo |42|
On seeing her extreme beauty, it kept standing there and did not run away.(42)
ਕਰ ਸੌ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਰਾਨੀ ਜਬ ਗਹਿਯੋ ॥
kar sau mrig raanee jab gahiyo |
ਯਹ ਕੌਤਕ ਰੀਸਾਲੂ ਲਹਿਯੋ ॥
yeh kauatak reesaaloo lahiyo |
Rasaloo saw her holding the deer with her hands and he was astonished to see this miracle.
ਤਬ ਚਿਤ ਭੀਤਰ ਅਧਿਕ ਰਿਸਾਯੋ ॥
tab chit bheetar adhik risaayo |
ਕਾਨ ਕਾਟ ਕੈ ਤਾਹਿ ਪਠਾਯੋ ॥੪੩॥
kaan kaatt kai taeh patthaayo |43|
He felt humiliated and cut the ears of the deer and made it to run away.(43)
ਕਾਨ ਕਟਿਯੋ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਲਖਿ ਜਬ ਪਾਯੋ ॥
kaan kattiyo mrig lakh jab paayo |
ਸੋ ਹੋਡੀ ਮਹਲਨ ਤਰ ਆਯੋ ॥
so hoddee mahalan tar aayo |
When its ears were cut off, it came running under the palace,
ਸਿੰਧ ਦੇਸ ਏਸ੍ਵਰ ਗਹਿ ਲਯੋ ॥
sindh des esvar geh layo |
ਚੜਿ ਘੋੜਾ ਪੈ ਪਾਛੇ ਧਯੋ ॥੪੪॥
charr ghorraa pai paachhe dhayo |44|
Where the Raja of the country of Eeswari chased him it on his horse.(44)
ਤਬ ਆਗੇ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਧਾਯੋ ॥
tab aage taa ke mrig dhaayo |
ਮਹਲ ਕੋਕਿਲਾ ਕੇ ਤਰ ਆਯੋ ॥
mehal kokilaa ke tar aayo |
ਹੋਡੀ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਰੂਪ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
hoddee taa ko roop nihaariyo |
ਹਰਿ ਅਰਿ ਸਰ ਤਾ ਕੌ ਤਨੁ ਮਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੪੫॥
har ar sar taa kau tan maariyo |45|
ਹੋਡੀ ਜਬ ਕੋਕਿਲਾ ਨਿਹਾਰੀ ॥
hoddee jab kokilaa nihaaree |
ਬਿਹਸਿ ਬਾਤ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਉਚਾਰੀ ॥
bihas baat ih bhaat uchaaree |
When he came across Kokila, he said to her,
ਹਮ ਤੁਮ ਆਉ ਬਿਰਾਜਹਿੰ ਦੋਊ ॥
ham tum aau biraajahin doaoo |
ਜਾ ਕੋ ਭੇਦ ਨ ਪਾਵਤ ਕੋਊ ॥੪੬॥
jaa ko bhed na paavat koaoo |46|
‘Let you and me stay here, so that no body could know.’(46)
ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਤਰ ਭਵਨ ਪਗ ਧਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
hai te utar bhavan pag dhaariyo |
ਆਨਿ ਕੋਕਿਲਾ ਸਾਥ ਬਿਹਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
aan kokilaa saath bihaariyo |
Dismounting the horse he came in his palace and took Kokila with him.
ਭੋਗ ਕਮਾਇ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਉਠ ਗਯੋ ॥
bhog kamaae bahur utth gayo |
ਦੁਤਯ ਦਿਵਸ ਪੁਨਿ ਆਵਤ ਭਯੋ ॥੪੭॥
dutay divas pun aavat bhayo |47|
After making love with her, he left the place and next day, again, he came back,(47)
ਤਬ ਮੈਨਾ ਯਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਬਖਾਨੀ ॥
tab mainaa yeh bhaat bakhaanee |
ਕਾ ਕੋਕਿਲਾ ਤੂ ਭਈ ਅਯਾਨੀ ॥
kaa kokilaa too bhee ayaanee |
Then the Mynah (bird) told, ‘Kokila why are you behaving foolishly.’
ਯੌ ਸੁਨਿ ਬੈਨ ਤਾਹਿ ਹਨਿ ਡਾਰਿਯੋ ॥
yau sun bain taeh han ddaariyo |
ਤਬ ਸੁਕ ਤਿਹ ਇਹ ਭਾਤਿ ਉਚਾਰਿਯੋ ॥੪੮॥
tab suk tih ih bhaat uchaariyo |48|
Hearing this she killed her and, then, the parrot said,(48)
ਭਲੋ ਕਰਿਯੋ ਮੈਨਾ ਤੈ ਮਾਰੀ ॥
bhalo kariyo mainaa tai maaree |
ਸਿੰਧ ਏਸ ਕੇ ਸਾਥ ਬਿਹਾਰੀ ॥
sindh es ke saath bihaaree |
‘It is good you have killed Mynah as she loved the Raja of Sindh.
ਮੋਕਹ ਕਾਢਿ ਹਾਥ ਪੈ ਲੀਜੈ ॥
mokah kaadt haath pai leejai |
ਬੀਚ ਪਿੰਜਰਾ ਰਹਨ ਨ ਦੀਜੈ ॥੪੯॥
beech pinjaraa rehan na deejai |49|
‘Now you take me in your hands and don’t let me remain in the cage.’(49)

‘Lest, Raja Rasaloo comes here,
ਮੁਹਿ ਤੁਹਿ ਸਿੰਧੁ ਬਹਾਇ ਜਮਪੁਰ ਦੇਇ ਪਠਾਇ ਲਖਿ ॥੫੦॥
muhi tuhi sindh bahaae jamapur dee patthaae lakh |50|
‘Throws us in (the river) Sindh and despatches us to the domain of death.’(50)
